You might think this is Echo the dog but she is more like Echo the bear right now. I never let her hair get this long and it’s driving me crazy and I think I’m driving the groomer crazy because I call every other day to see if they’ve had a cancellation.

I bought this fun hat for her from Beantown on Etsy. It is very well made and Anne is great to work with. Doesn’t she look like she loves it. haha

Last year I decided it was not safe for Echo to sit in my lap while I’m driving so she now has a car seat. I often find her curled up in it even in the house.

10 on 10 February edition

I hesitated participating this time because we are in the hospital all week long for IL2 treatment. but…it’s my life, it’s my story, our story, and everything is going to be alright!

The route I take to avoid the crazy freeway traffic to the hospital is lined on both sides with cemeteries, funny?! I can’t say there is any eatery I’d like to try out but I do like the look of aged buildings.

two benefits from being in MICU is he has his own room and has had great nurses! my one pet peeve is that they leave caps on the floor all. the. time.

52 Fridays 5/52 {pockets of light}

On Saturday Scott and I saw the movie War Horse, there were so many beautiful pockets of light in the barns that’s all I could think about. Then I remembered a photo from one of my favorite photographers Deb Schwedhelm that takes me back to a barn. I love her series of images I linked to…if only I’d taken more photo’s of the kids when we had our little barn shed. So with all this on my mind I went to the only barn I know of to see what was there. I ended up making two trips because of our nice gray skies but I had a lot of fun horsing around. I think this first image really works for the theme, I was really hoping the barn cats would come on in but it didn’t happen. The following ones I’m not real sure, I tried to focus on the pockets of light highlighting Nick.

next up is Sarah, I’m sure she has found some beautiful pockets of light in Missouri.

look who is four months

I can’t believe how time flies…Juliet went to the dr. for her four month check up and the dr. said she weighs 15 lbs and is 25 1/4 inches tall.

Looks to me she is two feet tall

most importantly she is developing well and is healthy!

Ignite: A Creative Discovery

“Inspired by Nichole Van and her group {Elevate}, several photographers and I have decided to take some time each month to explore the fine art side of photography. Each month, we will post a photo or series of images focused on art and photography. There are no rules. Just post what comes from the heart and ignite those creative juices, allowing the inner artist a chance to explore and fly This is a side of photography that I love but haven’t played with much. I hope you join me in my journey and enjoy my circle of friends as well.

I have been envisioning this image for quite some time now. It started in the summer while I was on a walk to escape the confusion and frustrations of life. My soul knows where to turn but I’m human and at times it’s easy to get caught up in the materialistic world that is dangled and flashed in front of us all day long. I feel so blessed that I receive reminders while enjoying the beauties of mother nature. Life is good and I will continue to knock.

52 Fridays 4/52 {frame it}

this weeks theme is “frame it” which is something I like to do as much as possible. I relate it to layering clothes which is always fun and adds more interest to the outfit/image. There will be another post on the making of my garland but I love it and love that it frames our loved ones! (this isn’t all of them though)

I had to have more fun with this setting and Echo was in the mood to play. if you look close there is a sparkle in her eye that means she is excited

we live on the sixth floor so she really does enjoy looking out and down to see what’s going on

i love this…still playing with the “frame it”, i love how her ears frame her chin

oh the good times we have!

just so you know she is treated well!

a little Christmas recap before it’s spring

I was so excited to end our year with Scott traveling for work instead of traveling to dr. appts. I flew into SLC a couple of days before him so I had the pleasure of welcoming him home…with camera in hand of course.

this little guy had grown so much and as you will see I think every little smile, quirky face, boogie nose, is the best all the way to his cute little toes!

oh my I have a bazillion photo’s of these moments…priceless!

Scott has always been the wrapper in the family. (as I type that I laugh because he is far from a rapper) anyway back to what I was saying, so he wraps and I add the finishing touches. It’s worked great for us and if Stockton learns Grandpa’s skills he’ll make his wife so happy. oh wait, let’s not go there yet!

we had so much fun with him!

I made the balls for him for Christmas…he’s still young enough he can play with them before and after and all is well.

oh that Grandpa is soooo funny!

i found this game on Pinterest and it was fun! aren’t we the artists.

time to dig in and then tell his friends what he got…

oh the cute kid is the cool kid too!

and he’s going to be a big brother in August.

Grandma had fun crawling and chasing and hiding under the blanket.

for the last few years holidays gifts usually are branded with a Nikon logo so this was really a change and one I will treasure forever! thank you honey!

since we’ve been gone those little feet have learned how to jump. before long he’ll want the cape and be jumping off the bed.

and when he bumps his head (if we are there) Grandpa will be the first to make it better. for sure!

I was so excited when I received an email from Allrecipes.com and the subject was “Favorite Winter Salad”, I thought this will be perfect for my winter post. I wrote out what I needed, did the shopping, and on Thursday did my thing. It wasn’t until then I noticed the real title of the salad is, Roquefort Pear Salad. So really it’s someone’s favorite salad that they eat in the winter…I get it now

main ingredients

I really struggle in the kitchen, hence the melted spoon on my first try at sugar coating the pecans

the salad was very good and I will be making it again

When Scott and I decided to marry we went to find that special ring, I picked out a band and he basically said no. So we looked some more and ended up with a pretty diamond ring in a unique setting that I still love. From the beginning of our marriage Scott’s ring rarely made it onto his finger so I decided hmmmm he doesn’t wear his, I won’t wear mine. Well I’ve thought a lot about “the ring” and I came to the conclusion that I don’t need a ring to know I’m married. My heart sparkles because I’m married, I love being married, and I act like I’m married so all is good. This last Christmas, Scott asked if I’d want a new ring which I thought was funny because I’d actually thought maybe I’d like a new ring but hadn’t said anything to anyone about it. While in Utah for our Christmas celebrations we went to the Gateway Mall. I knew of a jewelry store there so we checked it out and found a few sparkly things but I couldn’t decide and didn’t want to buy on impulse so we talked it over while eating some sushi Needless to say we went back and found a sparkly sparkly ring that is just me…simple with a little bit of spark. I”m not quite used to wearing it but I love it and not only does my heart sparkle but so does my finger.
